Combined membership is 49.9 million accounts, but only 1877K of those accounts were active in the last seven days. This page is sorted by weekly active users, not by subscribers, because the second number is the one that decides whether a post is read. Refreshed monthly.
Subscriber count is what every other list ranks on and it is close to meaningless. A subreddit accumulates subscribers for a decade and never loses them, so the headline figure measures history. Reddit publishes a weekly active figure on each subreddit page; the ratio between the two is the whole story, and on this list it runs from above seven percent down to under a hundredth of a percent.
