TGE marketing is the promotion of a crypto token before, during and after its token generation event, the day the token is minted, distributed and starts trading. Flexe.io has run 800+ campaigns since 2018, and we plan TGE campaigns for founders one to four months from launch, built to keep holders through the first vesting release rather than buy one loud day.
Checked on 23 October 2026: external figures on this page come from Memento Research, Bitquery, Delphi Digital, TDMM, Arrakis Finance, Keyrock, CoinGecko, Binance, ESMA and the FCA, with sample and date given next to each figure.
In short, the TGE meaning crypto founders search for is the moment a token is created on chain and released to holders. Token generation events usually arrive together with a listing or an airdrop, which is why the marketing has to cover both.
The hard part starts after launch day. Memento Research tracked 118 token launches in 2025 and found 84.7% trading below their TGE valuation by 20 December 2025, with a median FDV change of minus 71.1% (Memento Research). A campaign that ends on listing day pays for attention that sells, so ours is planned around the 30 days after it.
What’s included in a Flexe TGE campaign
Token generation event marketing covers the decisions and channels that move holders, not only reach. We start with the parts that are expensive to change after launch, then add PR, creators and community in the order the timeline needs them. The scope below is the full-stack version; a single-channel campaign takes one line of it and the readiness review.
- Launch readiness review: FDV, float at TGE, vesting calendar and airdrop rules checked against 2025 outcome data
- Narrative and token page: one-line pitch, tokenomics explainer, risk disclosures and a MiCA white paper check before any EU promotion
- Crypto PR across 790+ crypto and finance outlets, 249 of them with Majestic Trust Flow 30+, timed to real milestones rather than one burst
- Crypto influencer campaigns from a database of 11,859 crypto KOLs on X and 11,695 YouTube creators, on fixed fees
- Community tasks and airdrop rules with sybil filters, run with our airdrop promotion team
- Launch-week war room: an hour-by-hour plan for claim, trading, announcements, AMAs and incident replies
- A 30-day post-TGE program: holder updates, vesting notices, a second PR wave and a weekly report
If the token is sold on a launchpad first, the sale itself is covered by our IDO marketing service. This page covers the wider launch: the CEX or DEX listing, the airdrop, listing day, the first vesting releases and the month that follows, which is where most 2025 launches lost their holders. Teams with a fixed date and no launchpad start here.
How a TGE campaign runs, week by week
A TGE marketing strategy runs about 90 days before launch and 30 days after it. The early weeks are for decisions and slow channels, the last weeks for reach, and the month after TGE for keeping holders. A shorter runway can work when the token design is already fixed and an audience exists.
Days 90 to 60: the decisions that set the outcome
Decisions made in this window shape the chart more than any post. Arrakis Finance’s guide to 2025 TGEs found 75% of tokens launching below $100M FDV were positive at month one, against 22% of those above $500M. Keyrock’s study of more than 16,000 token release events found 90% created negative price pressure, with releases to teams the worst at about minus 25% (Keyrock).
| Decision | What we fix before any promotion | What the data says |
|---|---|---|
| Launch FDV and float | A valuation buyers can reach, with the float stated in plain numbers | 75% of 2025 launches under $100M FDV were up at month one, 22% above $500M (Arrakis Finance) |
| Vesting calendar | No team cliff in the first 90 days of trading, every date published | Price pressure often starts 30 days before a release (Keyrock, 16,000+ events) |
| Airdrop size and claim | Sybil filter, holding bonus or staggered claim | In the median 2026 airdrop, 73% of claimers moved tokens within a day (Bitquery, 51 drops) |
| Venue and liquidity | CEX, DEX or both, with market maker terms in writing | Binance found a Movement market maker sold about 66 million MOVE the day after listing (Binance, 25 March 2025) |
| Marketing compliance | MiCA white paper before EU promotion, FCA rules for UK users | No EU marketing before a required white paper (MiCA Article 7(2)) |
We put the answers on a one-page launch sheet that the team, the exchange and every creator works from. If a row is still open at day 60, we move the date or narrow the scope rather than buy reach the token design cannot hold.
Days 60 to 7: audience before reach
Audience comes first because creators and media convert better when there is something to join. We publish the narrative, run PR around real milestones such as audits, partners and testnet numbers, and brief creators who already cover the sector. Community tasks open in this window so the sybil filter has weeks of wallet data. Our token launch marketing guide explains which levers fit which budget.
Launch week: one schedule, set to the hour
Launch week runs from a single schedule shared by the team, the exchange and every creator. Claim opens, trading starts, the announcement thread goes out and AMAs follow in a fixed order, with answers ready for the questions that always come: vesting dates, market maker, airdrop exclusions. Binance has its own routes and rules, set out in our guide on how to list a token on Binance.
Days 1 to 30 after TGE: keeping holders
The month after launch decides whether buyers stay. Bitquery followed 2.02 million claimers of 51 airdrops in 2026: in the median drop, only 23% still held at least half of their tokens after 30 days (Bitquery). We schedule product news, a second PR wave and holder updates for weeks two to four, not day one, and send vesting notices early, with amounts in plain numbers.

What determines the price of TGE marketing
Campaigns start from $4,000 for a single channel, such as one PR wave or one creator campaign. Full-stack launches run $50,000 to $500,000 over three to six months, depending on markets, runway and how much audience the project already has. We quote one channel plan with a total and a timeline, never a price per post, per view or per KOL.
- Runway: a 90-day plan spreads cost across slow channels; a late start pushes budget into paid reach
- Markets and languages: each region adds outlets, creators and local community managers
- Existing audience: a project with real users needs less reach and more retention work
- Creator mix and terms: fixed fees and lock-ups take longer to negotiate than token deals
- Compliance work: EU and UK promotion needs reviewed copy and risk wording
- Post-TGE support: 30 days is the minimum we plan; longer support covers later vesting releases
Exchange costs sit outside our fee, and some are paid in tokens. Binance says it charges no listing fee, yet its HODLer Airdrops took a median 1.5% of supply in 2025, by our count of its announcements, and that supply reaches buyers the project does not choose.
Who a TGE campaign is for, and who it isn’t
A TGE campaign fits a team with a working product, a token that has a job inside it and a launch date one to four months out. It also fits projects that sold on a launchpad and now need the listing, the airdrop and the vesting months run as one plan. Founders who can show users, not only followers, get the most from creators and media.
Marketing will not help a token launching at a valuation the market will not pay, or one with a team cliff in the first quarter of trading. It cannot fix an airdrop that hands most of the supply to farmers, and it should not run in the EU before a required MiCA white paper exists. In those cases we say so, help fix the design first, or decline the brief.
What we measure and when results land
We measure holders, not impressions. The core numbers are unique holders at day 7, 30 and 90 against day one, the share of airdrop recipients still holding, volume on your own pairs, creator wallets that sold, and referral sources by channel. Reach and community numbers appear within two to three weeks; holder retention needs 30 days after TGE to read.
Expect the chart to test the plan, and read it at day 7. TDMM, a market maker that publishes its method, tracked 423 Gate listings since 1 January 2025: tokens above listing price at day 7 were still above it at day 90 35.8% of the time, against 10.6% for those below. CoinGecko’s 2026 Spot CEX Report found fewer than 10% of new listings on most top exchanges still above listing price after 12 months.
Our own benchmark covers 150 campaigns: median net return 2.8x within 90 days, range 1.4x to 7.0x, with a 12% failure rate included (Flexe.io research).
Red flags that predict a launch-week dump
Most failed launches show their warning signs in the proposal, before a single post goes out. These are the signs we check when founders send us an offer from another TGE marketing agency, and the things we refuse to sell ourselves, because each one has come before tokens that lost most of their holders within weeks.
- A guaranteed listing, price, volume or sold-out sale
- KOLs paid in tokens with no lock-up, or a KOL round priced below the public sale
- Follower or engagement counts with no wallet or holder data behind them
- A price list per post or per view instead of a plan tied to holders
- Airdrop tasks any bot can complete, with no sybil filter before the snapshot
- Post-to-earn or “yapper” leaderboards, which X cut off from its API on 15 January 2026, citing “AI slop & reply spam”
- No plan or budget for the 30 days after TGE
- EU or UK promotion before the white paper or the required risk warnings
The last item is a legal rule, not a matter of taste. MiCA Article 7(2) bans marketing communications before a required crypto-asset white paper is published, and each one must state it has not been reviewed by any EU authority. In the UK, the FCA rules in COBS 4.12A require a risk warning, ban incentives to invest and set a cooling-off period for first-time investors.
Disclosure is the cheapest check on a creator list. In a price sheet ZachXBT published on 1 September 2025, covering more than 200 crypto influencers, fewer than five of roughly 160 accounts that took the paid deal labelled their posts as ads, as The Block reported. Ask any agency, us included, for its disclosure wording and for a report from a launch that went badly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is TGE in crypto?
A TGE, or token generation event, is the moment a project mints its token and the first allocations reach investors, the team and the community, usually followed by trading on an exchange or DEX. The meaning of TGE in crypto differs from an ICO: a TGE can happen with no public sale at all, through an airdrop or a direct listing.
How much does TGE marketing cost?
Our fee is one part of the bill. Exchange airdrops and listing programs are usually paid in tokens from supply, market makers need their own terms, and each market adds legal review of the copy. Ask any agency for one plan with a total and a timeline, so you can compare it with the cost of running the same channels in-house.
How long before the TGE should marketing start?
Start about 90 days out if FDV, float, vesting or airdrop rules are still open, because those decisions shape everything after them. A shorter runway can work when the design is fixed and an audience already exists. Two weeks is enough only for paid reach, which rents attention for launch day and rarely brings holders who stay.
Should we do an airdrop at TGE?
Only if the airdrop has a job beyond attention. Delphi Digital’s June 2026 study of six large airdrops, including UNI, ARB and JUP, found 78% to 94% of recipient wallets had sold most of their allocation by day 90. Filter sybils, reward holding or product use, and model every claimed token as supply that may be sold on day one.
How do you stop KOLs and airdrop farmers from dumping?
Pay creators fixed fees rather than tokens, or lock any token payment for longer than the campaign and watch the wallets. For farmers, design tasks that need real wallet history, remove clusters before the snapshot and stagger the claim. Neither step stops all selling, but both cut the share of supply held by people who joined only to sell.
What happens in the 30 days after TGE?
Price discovery, the first wave of holder churn and, often, the first vesting notices. Keyrock found that price pressure from a token release often starts 30 days before the release itself, so a cliff in month two shows up in month one. Teams that plan product news and holder updates for weeks two to four keep more of the buyers who arrived on launch day.
